FOTD: Pop of Lilac

This is just a quick look I've been doing everyday to spice up my everyday neutral eye. Spring is right around the corner and I've been so inspired with all the pastel shades of makeup, clothes, nail polish, etc. (They've always been my favorite!) Adding this pop of Lilac also makes my brown eyes pop!

REVIEW: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles

Lately it seems like everyone has been using this concealer, thanks to MakeupByTiffanyD from YouTube raving about it. I kept hearing about this product, so I was very curious to try it out. I gave into the "hype" and I could not be more satisfied! This is a product that I NEVER would have gotten on a limb at the drugstore if I had not heard so many great things about it, but it has easily become my favorite concealer!

Product Description:
Active Formula+ Micro-corrector applicator now erase instantly. More targeted. More completely.
  • Erases dark circles, puffiness, fine lines.
  • Comes in 6 neutralizing shades: Fair, Light, Medium, Honey, Neutralizer, and Brightener.
  • Micro-Corrector Applicator micro-fills and smooths.
  • Active Formula with Haloxyl reduces the look of puffiness and shadows while fading the appearance of under-eye circles.
  • Apply neutralizer shade for extreme dark circles.
  • Brightener shade adds a luminous touch.
Packaging: This concealer comes in a tube, with a twisting mechanism that pushes the product through a sponge tip applicator. Some might not prefer this method, as it can be unsanitary, but I find it not to be much of an issue since it is being applied to clean skin. You could also apply it to a clean ring finger and then to your under-eye from there.

Consistency: What I love about this concealer the most is that it covers so well, making my under-eye darkness completely disappear, without being a thick, heavy consistency. It feels light on the skin, but still does the job!

Shade Range: It comes with a variety of shades to match skintones from fair to tanned skin. I wish they would have added more shades on the darker side of the spectrum though. I do appreciate the Neutralizer and Brightening shades, which deliver either extra coverage or extra brightening to the face.

Price: Around $8-9 from Drugstores (I got mine at Target). I would say it is decently priced for a drugstore concealer, considering it's great quality. I do wish it were cheaper, because I feel like the product goes by fast.

Application and Wear: Even though it claims to fill in fine lines, it does need to be set with a powder or it will settle into fine lines. I apply this after my foundation, then apply powder to my face, and then I set my concealer with a powder and by that time, it has already settled into my fine lines and I have to rub it away before setting it. After being set, it does not settle or budge for the entire day.

As you can see in the 'Before and After' photo, my under-eye darkness leans more on the purple side, which is easily counteracted by yellow tones. I feel that this concealer is very neutral, but leans more yellow than it does pink. In the 'After' photo, you can kind of tell that it is starting to settle into my fine lines, as this was before it was set with powder.
My dark circles are completely invisible after application.

Comparison Swatches!
(top to bottom) ELF Under Eye Concealer in Medium, Maybelline Instant Age Rewind in Light, Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer in Light

Overall Thoughts:
It is a great drugstore concealer that offers full coverage of your dark circles, while feeling light on the skin and lasting throughout the day. If you can deal with the $8-9 price tag and don't mind setting your concealer with powder to avoid it settling into those stubborn fine lines, then this concealer would be great for you!

Has anyone else tried this concealer? If not, what is your favorite concealer at the moment?

Adele Grammy's Performance 2012 Inspired Makeup!

The main reason I watched the Grammy's was to look at all the beautiful makeup that everyone was wearing. Though everyone still looked beautiful, I was kinda disappointed to see that mostly all the celebrities had very minimal makeup looks. Even Nicki Minaj, who always has some kind of dramatic look, was wearing a natural look!
When Adele did her performance of "Rolling In The Deep', I was immediately drawn to her makeup. Her makeup was fabulous and I knew I had to re-create it for you all!
She had a light, neutral color on the lid with some soft purple tones through the crease and winged liner. When I saw this, I immediately thought of Sketch by MAC! Her lips had also changed from the classic red shade she was wearing on the red carpet, to a rosy nude. You can't tell from this picture, but she also was sporting a very heavy contour.

Rihanna was among a few ladies whose makeup really stood out to me during the Grammy's. Even though it was really natural, it was still sophisticated and sexy. Here is my recreation of her smudged out lower lashline, glowy skin, and light pink lips. Hope you all enjoy!

Neutral Eyes using MAC Crushed Metallic Pigment in Roasted Chestnut

MAC has been selling their Crush Metallic Pigment Stacks pretty often recently. They released three sets in their Holiday collection and the upcoming MAC Collection, Vera, features another three sets. They come with 4 rich, metallic, extremely pigmented shades. My wonderful boyfriend got me the Crushed Metallic Pigment stack in Smoky Berry from the holiday collection and he couldn't have picked a better set! I absolutely love it.
With these pigments, I find that the best way to wear them is to pick one shade and pair it with all matte shades. This is because they are very shiny and when put together, your eye can lean more towards looking like a disco ball. While that might work for a night out, it's not exactly practical for everyday use. For this look, I chose to wear Roasted Chestnut, which is a dark brown with gold sparkle.

P.S.- I decided to do a little editing on my photos when I post pictures of myself- usually I have none. I won't edit any part of the look I am featuring or alter my skin if I am reviewing a product. But for this, I airbrushed my skin to look more flawless, since my skin has been horrible lately. I really like how it turned out and I would love to continue to do so. Let me know what you guys think and if you prefer it this way.
xoxo.
