FOTD: Blue Winged Liner

Today I tried something new and traded in my normal black eyeliner for a blue one! I used a new Wet N' Wild Mega Liner in Blue. The color of the bottle is a royal blue color, which I was hoping would be the color of the liner. It ended up being a lighter shade of metallic blue, which is still nice but I was hoping for the royal shade. This really makes me want to try out more colored liners! I heard Sephora makes some great glitter ones! :)

REVIEW: L'Oreal Telescopic Original Mascara!

I've always heard that the L'oreal Telescopic Mascara was an amazing lengthening mascara. So many people love this and while on my mascara kick that I've been going through, I decided to see if they were right about it's lengthening abilities.
Turns out they were and this has become one of my favorite mascaras, along with Covergirl Lash Perfection and the mascara I recently reviewed, Revlon PhotoReady 3D Volume. Click here to see that! I love this mascara!
Keep reading to see why!

Product Description:
Telescopic Original Mascara enhances your lashes intense length and unique lash by lash separation. The flat side of the patented flexible Precision brush lengthens lashes up to 60%, while the comb side of the brush prescisely separates lashes for a clump free result.
  • Ophthalmologist-tested and allergy tested.
  • Removes easily with soap and water.
  • Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact wearers.
  • Fragrance-free.
  • Comes in 3 shades: Blackest Black, Black, and Black Brown.

Packaging: The packaging is meant to resemble a telescope, hence the name Telescopic. While I do think this is a cute idea, I'm not a fan of the gold color of tube. It's very slim and fits nicely in your hands, but I just think it's very plain and boring.

Applicator: I never thought in a million years I would like a mascara with an applicator like this. It's so skinny! Usually I like really thick mascara applicators, so I definitely was surprised. It is also something I haven't seen before in a mascara either. As you know from the product description, it has flat edges and comb edges which combined are supposed to give length and separation, but I honestly don't see what a flat surface could do for your lashes. One thing I do not like about this, is that applicator is one of the flimsy ones that bends back and forth. I really don't like the instability it gives me when I'm putting this thing towards my eyeball.

Formula: I do find this mascara to be very lengthening, which I love. However, when it comes to the 'lash by lash separation' claim this mascara was given, I beg to differ. This clumps chunks of my lashes together, which is preventable if you pair this with a mascara that does separate well like I always do or use a lash comb before and/or after application. I also noticed that the formula is very wet, which I really don't like. I can tell that once this mascara dries out a bit, I will love it even more. Lastly, this mascara does not flake.

Price: This mascara is almost $10 at the drugstore. I feel like that is very pricey for a drugstore mascara. I feel like a drugstore mascara should range from 4-8 dollars, depending on the quality. I just feel like it's not THAT good to be THAT much, especially for something like mascara that needs to be repurchased often. Like I've stated before, always always always look for coupons. When I know I need to pick up something, I always search for printable coupons.

and after just 1 coat of mascara, this is the result.
*Keep in mind, I do apply multiple layers normally which makes them super long, but when I took these photos my eyes were watering pretty bad so I stopped after the first coat.
(ignore the weird lashes in the middle, that doesn't usually happen.. lol)

Overall Opinions: Like I said, I really love this mascara. I know once it starts to dry out a tad, I will love it even more (sometimes that just happens, ya' know?) I love how well it lengthens, but I definitely recommend pairing with another mascara that separates and thickens. (I'm still playing around with good combinations at the moment, but when I find the perfect combo I will share it with you guys.) If the brush is something that turns you off about this, I would reconsider and give it a try because this definitely proved my original assumptions wrong. All in all, great lengthening mascara and it will definitely be a staple in my mascara collection.
I also want to note that this mascara also comes in a Carbon Black formula, which I didn't know about when I purchased this. I'll probably end up getting that version instead next time around.

Xoxo, Kailan.

Neutral Eyes using Naked 2 Palette!

I know I'm a little late on the bandwagon, but I finally got the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette! I am absolutely in love with the colors and I'm so glad I chose this palette instead of the first Naked Palette because I do favor the cooler, taupe-y shades that this palette offers.

This is the first look I attempted with using this palette, so it's not the best or something I'll keep going back to... I'm still trying to work with the color combinations to see what looks best on me! With so many options, it's so hard to chose!

REVIEW: Revlon PhotoReady 3D Volume Mascara!

Lately, I've been on a HUGE mascara kick. As all my mascaras were completely drying up, I realized I've never found "the perfect" mascara for myself. Thus, my search began!
A couple weeks ago, I had two Revlon coupons (a target one and a manufacturers coupon) that I could use at the same time, so I decided to try out one of their mascaras. I had never tried any mascaras from Revlon before, so I didn't really know what to get.
Then, I saw the Revlon PhotoReady 3D Volume mascara and was immediately drawn to it! What sold me was the brush. It had that sort of spike-y ball at the top of the applicator, just like the Benefit They're Real! Mascara. I've heard great things about that mascara, but considering the $22 price tag, I settled with this hoping it'd be a cheaper alternative.

Product Description:
Get glamorous, big volume lashes from every angle. Lashes look 100% more magnified, multiplied, and amplified (with two coats).
  • Lash finding brush with rounded tip easily reaches every single lash for maximum dimension.
  • Available in 3 non-waterproof shades: Blackest Black, Black, and Blackened Brown.

But we all know how mascara claims are a bunch of you know what...

Packaging: This mascara is in a thick, square tube. It's definitely on the bulky side, but I never seemed to mind. The design is in a simple, black tube with a slightly mirrored cap.

Applicator: The brush itself is pretty big. With my small eyes, I do find it very hard to get the brush to the root of the lashes and sometimes I even poke my eye with the bristles. As I mentioned before, the applicator has a rounded tip, which I actually like. It really gets those lashes in the outer corner that are sometimes hard to reach. I think it'd be a nice touch to any mascara.

Formula: This mascara claims to give volume and I do believe it does that. My lashes look very lifted and voluminous with this and I find that even without curling my lashes, it provides a nice curl that doesn't go limp by the end of the day. Another thing I noticed is that it separates very well to the point where lashes I didn't know I had were showing up, particularly in the inner corner of my eye. This mascara also does not flake, which is a huge plus.

Price: Around $8. Fairly reasonable for a drugstore mascara, but definitely look for coupons. Revlon almost always has great coupons somewhere. I stacked two coupons, a $1 off coupon and a $2 off coupon, with this purchase and got the mascara for 5 bucks. I know right now (as of 3/20) the coupon section of Target.com has a $2 of Revlon Cosmetics coupon available, so definitely print that baby out and either try this out or do with it as you please! :)

Overall Opinions: I really do like this mascara. I love the volume, separation, and the way it coats every lash. I do wish the brush was smaller, so I could really get into the base of my lashes. The big brush and the bulky packaging are the only two things I find problematic with this mascara, but both issues are miniscule. All in all, great mascara.

St. Patty's Day Makeup!

For St. Patty's Day this year, I decided to be festive and do a eye look using greens. Now, being a person who isn't afraid of using color, I have never used green eyeshadow in my life! For some reason, I thought it'd be less wearable than say purples or blues.
With that being said, I also did not have any green shadows to use for the look, so I turned to my little sister's ELF 100 pan eyeshadow palette, which had a pretty good selection of greens. I had never used ELF eyeshadows before either, but I must say I am completely satisfied with the quality of the eyeshadows and have fallen in love with the way green looks against my brown eyes.
I can't believe I didn't try this sooner!

Skull Makeup+ Storytime

My sister, Jenna is probably the funniest, most weird person I've ever met. I love it. She's always cracking my family up! She's always doing the weirdest faces, noises, and little dances that constantly have me on the verge of peeing my pants. One that she does in particular, is this weird little dance to the song First Of The Year by Skrillex. I've been trying to convince her to let me record her dancing to it for SO long and she finally let me!
The only thing is, she didn't want to be recognized in the video if her friends came across it, so we decided to do some sort of makeup to mask her identity. Thus formed Skully, Jenna's skeleton persona.
It was my first time I had ever done this type of makeup and I thought it turned out pretty well, so I decided to share it with you all! I'm actually pretty proud of the outcome, especially since I had only brought a limited amount of makeup to my house this weekend and had to work from that!

MAKEUP USED:
Mixture of using NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk and Inglot Matte 318 (face)
Wet N' Wild Cream Liner (eyes, nose, mouth)
Maybelline Line Stiletto Liquid Liner (teeth)
ELF Black Eyeshadow (shading and to set black liner on eyelids)

And if you'd like to see the video that resulted from this, click HEREEEE!
For a last minute video, I think it turned out pretty well. My family and I have all gotten a kick out of this and I'm sure we'll be laughing about it forever :)
