A couple weeks ago, I had two Revlon coupons (a target one and a manufacturers coupon) that I could use at the same time, so I decided to try out one of their mascaras. I had never tried any mascaras from Revlon before, so I didn't really know what to get.
Then, I saw the Revlon PhotoReady 3D Volume mascara and was immediately drawn to it! What sold me was the brush. It had that sort of spike-y ball at the top of the applicator, just like the Benefit They're Real! Mascara. I've heard great things about that mascara, but considering the $22 price tag, I settled with this hoping it'd be a cheaper alternative.
Product Description:
Get glamorous, big volume lashes from every angle. Lashes look 100% more magnified, multiplied, and amplified (with two coats).
- Lash finding brush with rounded tip easily reaches every single lash for maximum dimension.
- Available in 3 non-waterproof shades: Blackest Black, Black, and Blackened Brown.
But we all know how mascara claims are a bunch of you know what...
Packaging: This mascara is in a thick, square tube. It's definitely on the bulky side, but I never seemed to mind. The design is in a simple, black tube with a slightly mirrored cap.
Applicator: The brush itself is pretty big. With my small eyes, I do find it very hard to get the brush to the root of the lashes and sometimes I even poke my eye with the bristles. As I mentioned before, the applicator has a rounded tip, which I actually like. It really gets those lashes in the outer corner that are sometimes hard to reach. I think it'd be a nice touch to any mascara.
Formula: This mascara claims to give volume and I do believe it does that. My lashes look very lifted and voluminous with this and I find that even without curling my lashes, it provides a nice curl that doesn't go limp by the end of the day. Another thing I noticed is that it separates very well to the point where lashes I didn't know I had were showing up, particularly in the inner corner of my eye. This mascara also does not flake, which is a huge plus.
Price: Around $8. Fairly reasonable for a drugstore mascara, but definitely look for coupons. Revlon almost always has great coupons somewhere. I stacked two coupons, a $1 off coupon and a $2 off coupon, with this purchase and got the mascara for 5 bucks. I know right now (as of 3/20) the coupon section of Target.com has a $2 of Revlon Cosmetics coupon available, so definitely print that baby out and either try this out or do with it as you please! :)
Overall Opinions: I really do like this mascara. I love the volume, separation, and the way it coats every lash. I do wish the brush was smaller, so I could really get into the base of my lashes. The big brush and the bulky packaging are the only two things I find problematic with this mascara, but both issues are miniscule. All in all, great mascara.
